Giulia sat in her office. Around her, office aids, analysts, and other assorted members of her entourage prepared for the upcoming press conference. Giulia had spent the morning looking sad, offering condolences, and trying to keep her team coordinated. Now the moment had come.
Giulia Rossi strode out of her office, and rode the elevator down to the first floor of the Haven Corp building. She stood up to a podium, lined with microphones. Dozens of reporters held notebooks and cameras. Giulia breathed in one last time.
"Yesterday Lialta's gym leaders were attacked in brutal and savage coordination, leaving at least three gym leaders dead, one injured, and three others unaccounted for or missing. It is the belief this time that the many of the Elite Four are responsible, under the leadership of gym leader Aden Hayes."
Giulia paused, as cameras flashed and the crowd murmured in reaction.
"At this time, we believe the Elite four members Harold Commons, Stygian Poe, and Leif Laurel, as well as the gym leader Aden Hayes, are fugitives. My sister, and final member of the Elite Four, is currently hunting gym leader Aden Hayes. The cowardly Elite Four traitors still hide, and cannot be located at this time.
"Gym leaders and your families, I would urge you, please, get to Fiume. We will keep you safe here, at Haven Corp. We will catch these criminals, but until then, we cannot be anything but cautious. Let us protect you.
"Trainers, please, at this time, accept our apologies and understanding. All Pokemon League activities are to be halted in this emergency situation. I, as Champion, encourage no trainer to battle at this time. The Elite Four are known to have attacked trainers in mid-battle before, in order to injure or kill them while they're distracted. We do not know how these Elite Four members will operate. For your safety, please, do not battle, stay safe! Hopefully soon, we can stop Aden and his allies. We will not be taking any questions. Good day."
The Champion walked away from the podium. The easy part was over. Now she just needed to wait for those seeking safe haven with her. She walked briskly back, heading to floor seven, where quarters were being prepared for their new guests.

There was a press conference due, and a few of the police force were tasked with security. Naturally, that meant that Matthias was present. Once the press conference started the newish officer stood at attention and watched the crowd, but was careful to listen into the speech as well. His demeanor wanted to change as Giulia spoke, yet he was careful not to let it show. That might end badly. What else might end badly was the fact that Matt was Aden's younger brother. There would likely be an investigation - wait - this didn't make any sense to Matt. Aden wasn't that kind of person and he knew it. He needed to figure out what was going on and fast.

Walking out from the Pokemon Center, Lani hears the sound of a crowd coming from the city center. "Was there some kind of announcement regarding that wanted poster? So that's where everyone was. I certainly hope that man was caught." She directs her steps toward the crowd, which is now dispersing. Tapping someone on the shoulder, Lani asked, "I'm terribly sorry to be out of the loop, but could you tell me what is going on? Does this have anything to do with that Midas fellow?"

The night air was brisk but inviting, the muggy cool lessened on the nose due to the light breeze blowing away any foul odor that might linger in the canals. Odette, draped in her finest contest outfit, the kanzashi in her hair clinked softly with light almost melodic chimes. She wore with the ornate kimono, a matching butterfly-esq mask that had delicate light-catching jewels dangling from the points. She stepped lightly her Glaceon, Celia followed in her trail wearing its won Beauty ribbon proudly. Even this late in the night the area around the contest hall was still lively, Colorful light and catching music played backdrop to the enticing smells of food vendors and the white chatter of people. Spectators sill steamed forth from the entrance as the last contests had just finished, the jovial mood seemed at odds to dismaying events around the region, but perhaps this was the time to do it most, to distract oneself with idle pleasures and exciting entertainment.
Odette had done her best to sneak out one of the side exits, hoping to avoid any fans or enthusiasts and make her way back to her hotel under the serene veil of night. Under the stage lights of the contest hall she was Ai Miyazaki a beautiful maiden from the far region of Johto, and she would much rather keep it that way and the crowd outside the hall most definitely contained people employed by the company and she new the stir it would cause if it came out she even acknowledged her real mothers heritage. But under those blazing lights, ones outward facade is judge more true than anything under a mask or makeup. Rounding a corner the contest hall plazas noise faded fainter and fainter. Odette was alone along this stretch of canal the next bridge to cross far off along the trail of elegant street lamps. Passing by the back of a restaurant Odette herd the impatient sounds of something rustling about the dumpsters and trash of the lone alley way. Celias ears perked in alertness. Nearing the noise, a lone Pyroar sat beneath a light jutted from the restaurant at the mouth of the alley. It was a beautiful specimen of the species Odette noted , though abit too lean. It was strange to see one so far into a city, perhaps some irresponsible trainer had abandoned it here, and like any loyal pokemon it stayed and waited for its master to return. A sad fate Odette had seen repeated hundreds of times, and each time the facilities would take the pokemon in. Why should now be any different.
She decided that she would try to approach the Pyroar. Doing her best to take a stance of least aggression, Odette approached the pokemon with a gentle stare and outreached hand. All her breeder training payed off as the Pyroar, though wary allowed her to approach, Odette crouched petting it and cooing softly.

Alcher had finally felt safe in the city once she could no longer sense the presence of that strange man in the suit-- Alexander Midas, as he'd introduced himself-- and X. The promise of food and a new lesson as to how and why the man's Gengar had evolved had lured Al in like the scent of a fresh baked pie. But the situation had only reminded her of why she kept to herself, and why she trusted no one except the Pokemon at her side. Well, usually at her side. Lowenmaul had been instructed to guard the alley way while Al dug through the trash for their next meal. Snooping outside restaurants was the best, as they often threw out whole meals and day old foods. Alcher hit the mother load of supposedly used pasta and stale bread sticks, scooping them quickly into the plastic container she'd found and washed out to keep their next meal in. After scavenging for a few more moments, she deemed the rest unapptetizing-- which was saying a lot, considering she was digging through a dumpster-- Al lept down from her post and stuffed the plastic container into the satchel she'd swiped from a closed vendor station. He wouldn't miss it, and Al was in more need of it than some rich kid who wanted yet another fashionable carrying case.
As she rounded the corner, looking side to side to see if there were any gold mines back here, she didn't notice the figure crouched in front of her partner until she was already in the light of the alley. Freezing, her grip tightened on the strap of the bag, one hand dangling by her side. She stood there for a moment, the distant blare of city noises ringing in her ears. "Lowenmaul," she spoke deeply, her tone thick and heavy, not at all what one would expect to come from a person Alcher's size. "Come," she hissed. The lion perked its ears up, obviously enjoying the attention it was receiving from this stranger. But when the stranger looked up, Alcher's eyes wavered for a moment, and her weary demeanor dropped. Even in this dark alley, Alcher could see two beautifully glowing eyes behind the butterfly-esque mask on the woman's face, and flowing robes draped around her body. Alcher felt a small blush rise in her cheeks, and she shook her head, taking a step forward. "Who...who're you?"

Having learned much about the events occurring in the region from a stranger, Lani headed back to her apartment without any new berries. She re-lit the stove before the phone rings. A short time later, a fire erupts, is put out by her Starmie and far too many sprinklers for such a small apartment, and countless papers are destroyed. Soaked, she calls out a Togekiss, and flies from the City to a small town named after an ingredient that has just played a part in destroying her short life's work. Laniakeia is no longer in Fiume City.

Venus couldn't believe what she was hearing. Not only had her mother been murdered, but several other gym leader had been slaughtered as well? Never in her life had she heard of such a tragedy, especially at the hands of people who were so respected in Lialta.
Her heart was heavy as she shuffled through the crowd, Aurora nuzzling against her hand as they went. She quickly sent a message to her sister, Jinx, telling her that they should meet at Haven Corp like Giulia had suggested. Everyone who knew anything about the Pixie gym knew that Titania's eldest daughter planned to take over as gym leader when her mother retired, which meant that the elite four knew as well. Venus knew that meant her life was in danger, but her only thoughts centered around finding Jinx. After she knew Jinx was in safe hands, her hunt for the elite four could begin.
Venus pointed herself in the direction of Haven Corp, Aurora padding faithfully beside her.

"Titania's daughter?" Giulia smiled as one of her aides informed her. The girl had been seen coming. "And Aden's brother?"
Today was becoming too easy. She quickly ordered her pages to fetch the two trainers.
"Time for me to act the sentinel," she smiled, adjusting her suit.

Teleporting back to Fiume was no easy task for Au Contraire. Nevertheless, Deneb was there, and as he returned his Malamar to its ball, he noticed a young woman with her Sylveon. She must be one of Titania's daughters. The press conference must be over. I'm so glad that Tourner went undetected.
He knew all about the press conference through Malamar's psychic abilities. Au Contraire had been concentrating on Spinda's thoughts, and conveying them to Deneb throughout the so-called heist. Do I concentrate on getting into Haven Corp, or on getting this information about Lane's controversial discovery back to my parents? Considering my present location, I should try to get on this girl's good side.
"Hello," he began, tapping the girl on her shoulder, "You must be, euh, Jinx? I'm terribly sorry to hear about your mother. What frightening times we live in! If you'd like, I'd be happy to offer my services as bodyguard for you and your pretty little Sylveon." At this point, he wasn't sure if this was Jinx or...Mars? Jupiter? Venus! Shoot, you blew it again. "Heading to Haven Corp, I presume?"

Matt was still dumbfounded. He found it extremely hard to believe that his brother would ever do something of the sort - and just as he was about to make a call (which in hindsight was probably not a smart thing to do), he was approach by his captain and flat out told to take some days off to 'stay safe'. He figured that was only the public reason and that his presence might make some people uneasy (that he was Aden's brother was not exactly secret). Either way, going and being present would probably help him figure out a bit more of what was going on.
That thought in mind, he saluted his captain and headed toward the Haven Corp. building.

Venus turned to face the tall boy in front of her. Jinx? He thought she was Jinx?? He had obviously never met either of them if he couldn't tell the difference. Aurora bristled slightly next to her, sensing her owner's caution.
Who did this guy think he was? A stranger offering his assistance as a bodyguard to someone he'd never met, especially after such a tragedy, was not something Venus felt comfortable with. At the same time, if she planned to take on any member of the Elite Four she'd need all the help she could get.
"I'm not Jinx actually," Venus eyed the boy suspiciously. "Jinx is my younger sister. I'm Venus. Walk with me." With that, Venus continued down the road.

Odette smiled at the Pyroar, that was obviously enjoying the chin scratch it was receiving. About to reach for a spare Pokepuff she kept in her small purse she was startled when a husk voice called to the Pyroar. Odette turned almost glaring at the boy before her, he was dirty ,disheveled with hands caked in dirt and food, he carried a bag was that obviously to nice to be his at all. His face flushed red, with what Odette assumed was anger, some trainers could be very touchy when it came to strangers and their Pokemon. Which of course was very understandable with your team Rockets and Galatics running a muck in other regions.
Odette stood, with a single graceful movement, all of her ornamentation and jewels clinking delicately, like soft chimes in a velvet wind. Celia ran forward taking point in front of Odette between her and the unkempt boy. The Glaceon watched him with ears perked. "I am Ai Miya-" Odette began almost useing her stage name, but what did such a poor youth know of corporations and esteemed heritages, what was the harm in giving her real name. She decided that her first name would be enough "Odette, I am... Odette, and who are you? You should really take better care of your Pyroar, this ones almost skin and bones!" Odette added her voice almost straining on pretentious. Something that caused her to internally cringe at.

Alcher clicked their teeth together, setting their jaw. "Excuse me?" Alcher nearly growled, but something in their throat made them hiccup and hold their breath instead. The silhouette of the woman on the edge of the alley made her look nearly like a princess, a dream from a far away place that could not be touched by the darkness of the alley, and by the misfortune of the city. Alcher swallowed as Lowenmaul came over to them and rubbed her head against Alcher's leg. "My Pyroar is fed just as well as any wild Pokemon," Alcher managed to stutter out. They shook their head again, clearing their throat. "Don't let her frail figure fool you, she is the most fierce of her kind. We've grown up side by side, after all."
Lowemaul looked from Alcher to the woman named Odette, to the Glaceon now perched between the three. It gave a short, pointed look to the ice Pokemon, letting it know that Alcher and her meant no harm, they were just hungry. Like always. Lowenmaul less so than Alcher, as the land gave way to many more edibles for Pokemon than human. Lowenmaul had never gone a day hungry, where Alcher experienced such almost every day. Alcher's grip tightened once again on the bag. "Odette...sounds like a name for a princess," Alcher commented quietly, her demeanor relaxing only slightly. "Alcher. I'm, uh...Alcher."

Meanwhile, Deneb blinked in response to Venus's words. "M-my apologies," Deneb stuttered, stepping away from the Sylveon, "I heard about your recent tragedy, but to be honest, that was the first I had heard of your family. See, I'm here from the Kalos region." While what he said was true, he certainly left out that it had been years that he'd been there, only to return with his parents to Anistar after a family squabble for many more years. He knew exactly who he was talking to. He had a habit of feigning uncertainty in his thoughts, words, and actions, what with psychic abilities being used frequently in the business of espionage. But this was Venus, she was headed to Haven Corp, and he had to get in there. She was nothing more than his ticket, as far as he was presently concerned.
"I didn't mean to offend by offering my services; you are very powerful, yourself. I can sense that. Nevertheless, it always helps to have extra eyes on you, and extra manpower." Together, they continued walking toward the tower. He could feel himself blushing slightly, not of embarrassment, or at least not at first. This girl had spunk. He didn't like that he'd only just met her, and he was already growing soft.

Venus nodded. "If you want to risk your life fighting with me, I guess I can't stop you." Who knew? Members of the Elite four could have already targeted her. She hoped that Jinx had received her messages about what was happening. Her younger sister had been very quiet since their mother had passed and Venus was worried.
They were very close to Haven Corps now and Venus couldn't shake how surreal this all felt. Hopefully once she was inside she'd find some answers about the Elite four's betrayal- and whereabouts.
Giving a sidelong glance to the boy next to her, Venus walked up to the Haven Corps entrance.
