Matt wasn't exactly the happiest trainer right now. While no longer on duty, he was still in his uniform (he didn't expect this sort of thing to happen and hadn't brought any change of clothing). He hadn't been paying much attention to the people around him and was running somewhat on autopilot and very nearly bumped right into a girl and her sylveon, plus the accompanying guy. He caught himself and followed them into the building, remaining rather silent on the whole.

Giulia smiled. "They're here? Excellent. See them in."
The three trainers were ushered into her office. She recognized the one with the Sylveon as Titania's daughter, and there was no mistaking the brother of Aden Hayes. The third, however, she did not recognize so quickly. Either way, it didn't matter to her.
"We're so glad you're all safe," Giulia began, adopting a worried tone.
Giulia left her chair and approached the trainers. She was closest to Matt.
"Matthias," Giulia spoke very softly, allowing the next few words to crack with her worried demeanor. "When your brother attacked me, I couldn't believe it. He was demanding that he should be champion. I've never known someone to try and take a life for a League position. I'm so glad you haven't turned with him."
Her words carried off, as she turned to the others. "I'm glad you're safe with us now. All of you."
Giulia press a button on her desk. "I hope your Pokemon are ok. Would you like us to heal them for you? We'll need them for our next step."
The three trainers offered Giulia a perplexed look. "We're taking the fight back to them, of course," she smiled. "I know I asked no one to battle, but I'm afraid we'll have no choice in order to take down Aden and his thugs. We're leaving tomorrow for Terna. My sources are telling me that Aden intends to use the Pokemon League HQ for his own."

Venus blinked in confusion. She had expected a fight, but nothing so soon. Did Giulia want to strike preemptively?
"Giulia, I'm as eager as anyone to bring those killers to justice but this is really very sudden. Exactly who are you planning to bring on this trip?" If Jinx heard about this she would demand to go, but these people were killers and Jinx should have no business with them. "My sister is stubborn, but she needs somewhere to stay where I know she'll be safe."

Sick of traveling, the news that he'd be on the move again tomorrow came as a bit of a shock. Looking around at the others, they seemed to have a lot on their minds.
Getting to a room of his own, he released the Pokemon he had with him. His Swanna was upset by the drab quarters, as was his Serperior, who turned up its nose at the drapery. Shuckle remained in his shell.
"Myalamyar," jeered Au Contraire slimily. Although tired from the travel, he was more concerned that he was covered in a bad paint job.
"I guess I should get you cleaned up," said Deneb. He was shocked that Haven Corp's guest rooms didn't have in-suite bathrooms, instead relying on a shared bathroom down the hall. "This place is more like Kanto than Kalos, I'm afraid, so I'm going to have to smuggle you down the hall in your ball so no one sees you..." He got ready for a shower a few rooms over and set out with a single Pokeball hidden in his towel. "The rest of you play nice now, and maybe try to rest," Deneb warned of the other three, leaving them in the room.

Matthias placed a protective hand at his belt, and stared at Giulia in disbelief. "I..." he trailed off before shaking his head.
"All my pokemon are fine."
He had next to know idea what to think right now. Aden wouldn't do something like this... would he?
"I don't believe you... Ms. Rossi..." his words were slow, but very deliberate. He was a police officer and she was claiming to have been attacked... this could go very badly.

"Please, remain with me for a few minutes," Giulia smiled at Matthias.
A few moments later, an aide came and took all the other trainers away.
"Mr. Hayes," Giulia began, after the room had cleared, "I know that you obviously care about your brother deeply."
She sat down at her desk.
"But I can't make this up. Aden attacked me, and I barely escaped with my life. Whatever man you thought your brother was is gone now."

"But..." Matthias was silent for a time before thinking aloud.
"If you barely escaped with your life and this was a few days ago... wouldn't you be all burnt up? Or in the hospital?"
He seemed a bit suspicious, but regardless of that this situation didn't sit well with him at all.
"I know he wouldn't do something like this."

Giulia's eye twitched slightly.
"You don't know what you're talking about," she stated matter-of-fact.
She stood from her desk.
"And I'm beginning to think we can't trust you."
She pressed a button on her desk, and the sound of a deadbolt locking the office echoed through the room.

Matt stood in stunned silence for a moment.
"Ms. Rossi... what are you..." he took a step back and froze when he heard the deadbolt.
"What's going on?!"

"For too long, trainers have oppressed their Pokemon, forcing them to fight in meaningless contests that only serve to traumatize, injure, or kill their Pokemon."
Giulia stepped from behind her desk.
"This system is broken. And it must be ended."
There was no hiding it now. The police officer had become too suspicious. Luckily, his boss, the venerable Chief Ferro, was not going to stop her. Matthias could still be a problem, though.
"I will raze this vile establishment from within. Your brother is one of the many who must be brought down. And now, it's your turn. Surrender, and I promise you and your Pokemon will not be hurt."

The young officer was dumbfounded.
"What..."
He couldn't believe what he was hearing - at the very least it meant he was right. Aden had done nothing wrong. Matt, however, knew when he was outclassed. There was no sense him putting any of his pokemon in harm's way, especially the younger ones. He was still tense, but he was not aggressive.
"Fine. I won't resist just... don't hurt any of my friends."
Clearly he was talking about his pokemon, but Giulia was free to interpret it however she wanted.

Giulia led the police officer to the 7th floor of the Haven Corp building. She took him to a corner office, or at least that's what it appeared to be.
It was clear when they stepped through the door that this wasn't the truth.
The room extended back through the entire floor in a long hall, windowless and grim. The inside was lined with four barred cells, empty, save for one.
Giulia grabbed Matt by the arm and pushed him into the cell next to the occupied one.
"Get comfortable. I still need to find a way to deal with you," she glared, locking the cell door.
And without another word, Giulia left.
