RPG Rules
1. Don't be a douche.
2. Do not post for someone else's character. If you control another player's character, you will be warned.
3. You may challenge anyone to a battle, but they do not always have to accept.
4. All official gym leader challenges will have the terms of the battle decided by the challenged gym leader. They are allowed to pick the battle format and number of Pokemon.
5. All tournament battles will have rules dictated by league officials.
6. The winner of the battle writes the battle post. You do not have to follow the in-game battle move for move, but you are encouraged to maintain a similar feel to the battle in the game. Example: Koffing sweeps an opponent's team, the battle post will most likely focus on the offensive capabilities of that Koffing.
7. All Legendaries are banned from use unless acquired in the RPG or with special staff approval.
8. YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO REPLY TO ANY THREAD. IF YOU DO NOT REPLY, YOU WILL BE SKIPPED, AND DROPPED FROM THE STORY AFTER THREE OFFENSES.
9. Not responding to a battle challenge in time will result in your trainer forfeiting the challenge without battle. You may refuse player challenges. Gym Leaders who fail to respond to challenges will be demoted after three offenses.
10. Your character may only be active in one thread at a time. You may enter and leave permanent threads (any stickied thread in a town) at any time. You may not reenter a mission thread after you've left one.
Posting Tips and Guidelines
General
1. There are no word limits on this RP. We would encourage frequent, short replies over long, infrequent posts. Your post is meant to be a player reaction. We would rather have you post a reaction every time you visit, than for you to spend hours writing a novel every post.
2. The winner of a battle will write the post for the battle. Any battle will take place over the 3DS Battling System. Winners are encouraged to embellish battle posts, but to try to stick to the same overall feel of the online battle.
3. Each thread will be directed by a Moderator. Any battles against opponents in story missions will be conducted through a moderator's 3DS system and the players'.
4. Do not control another player's character. Feel free to SPAM a thread for a conversation. Again, short frequent replies are encouraged over infrequent, long replies.
5. THERE IS A ONE WEEK LIMIT TO REPLY TO A THREAD. IF YOU DO NOT REPLY WITHIN A WEEK, YOU WILL BE SKIPPED, AND AFTER THREE OFFENSES IN A THREAD, YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE STORY.
Challenging Other Players
1. If you wish to challenge another player, end your post with this, bolded: Challenging [Username] to a [Singles, Doubles, Triples, Rotation] Battle, [1-6]v[1-6]. (Brackets indicate fields which the user will need to complete.)
2. In order to respond to a challenge, reply in the thread. Your post should end with a bolded sentence, accepting or refusing the challenge.
3. You have one week to reply to a challenge. If you do not reply, you forfeit the match, with no battle taking place. YOU CAN REFUSE A CHALLENGE.
4. Gym Leaders decide the terms of any battle challenge for their gym badge.
5. The winner writes the battle post. It is common courtesy to consult the losing party if the winner wishes to include any dialogue from the opposing trainer in their post. PMing an example post for dialogue editing can suffice, or a simple instant messenger. Please heed this guideline, as control of other players is strictly forbidden, including inserting dialogue (EXCEPTION: "Go Koffing," or other simple delivery lines).
6. In Boss Battles, the Boss will always write the fight. Boss battles will usually occur between the boss and multiple characters.
Posting Order
1. You may join any permanent thread any time. (eg. Terna City Pokemon Center).
2. Story threads will have sign-up threads where you must post before joining any Story Mission (eg. Act I - The Story Mission).
3. Post Order should go in the same order as when the thread begins. If you join in the middle of the thread, post at any time, and from then on you will be in that point in the post order in which you joined. (Example: Mr. Blue joins with a post at Page Two, after Dr. Researcher Man. Mr. Blue will from then on be behind Dr. Researcher Man in the Post Order.)
4. You have one week to post in your thread before you're skipped. Posting more frequently than once a week is highly encouraged, although not necessary.
5. Post Order may be ignored if you are accepting a challenge or posting or reacting to a battle. Only Challenge Accepted Posts, Battle Reaction Posts and Battle Posts are allowed to ignore post order at this time. Players may react to the challenge at any time after the challenge has been accepted, but must revert to normal Post Order after a battle has finished, and the loser has been able to react to the Battle Post.
6. Post Order may be ignored if you wish to exit a thread. Simply post a short exit. You will then be removed from the Post Order. You may not exit a Story Thread without staff approval. You may not exit a thread if you are being challenged to a battle without declining the challenge.
7. Post Order may be ignored if a thread enters into Conversation Mode. Conversation Mode can only be initiated by all players gathering in one spot and talking (example: sitting at a table together, gathering in a group, etc.) Conversation Mode allows players to speak to one another organically. Any discrepancies during conversation mode will be decided by a story mod. Conversation Mode ends the instant any player in the thread exits the conversation setting.
Battling Rules
All battles will take place over the 3DS Online Battling System, using Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire (Pokemon X and Y may be used, but they do not support the use of new Items or Mega Evolutions, and cannot be used if the opposing player has new content on their team).
1. Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on his or her team.
2. Sleep Clause: A player cannot put two or more different opposing Pokémon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to opposing Pokémon.
3. Evasion Clause: A player cannot increase their Pokémon's evasion stat with a move that specifically increases evasion. Items or indirect boosts do not break this clause.
4. OHKO Clause: Players cannot use moves that have a chance of instantly KO opposing Pokémon. For example, Horn Drill is an illegal move to have on a Pokémon's move set.
5. Item Clause: A player cannot equip two of the same item on their Pokemon. For example, if Koffing is holding Leftovers, no other Pokemon on that player's team may hold Leftovers.
6. If a player disconnects, that player automatically loses, unless granted a rematch by the opponent.
7. Please refer here to the list of banned Pokemon and items.
8. No hacked Pokemon. Players using hacked Pokemon will be banned.
9. Every trainer can have a team of six Pokemon equipped in each thread.* A trainer may only construct their team using Pokemon in their allotted Pokemon slots.
10. Trainers gain slots through participating in the RP. Each character class determines how many slots a trainer begins the RP with. Click here to see character classes.
11. If a Pokemon faints in battle during a thread, that Pokemon may not be used again in that thread unless revived by an ability or medicine. Return to a Pokemon Center to revive your Pokemon. If all of the Pokemon in a party of players are fainted, the mission thread ends, and the players fail the mission.
*Trainers with less than six slots may only equip as many Pokemon as they have slots for.
Any discrepancies not covered by these rules are left to staff discretion. Any issues should be posted in the PokeCenter.
