Character Classes
These classes are flexible monikers to determine how many Pokemon you are allowed access to for battle. The number of Pokemon your trainer may build their team from in each thread are listed as slots. The battling team limit at any time is still six Pokemon. Each class has various abilities and requirements, and the rules for each class are listed below. Choose carefully, as changing classes will be difficult, and accomplished only through story missions. Classes are divided into two types: Competitive and Narrative. Competitive classes are more restricted in Pokemon acquisition, but can participate in League sanctioned tournaments, challenge gym leaders for badges, or challenge the Elite Four/Champion. The Narrative Classes gain more access to a wide variety of Pokemon and Mega Pokemon, but they are not allowed to participate in Pokemon League Events.
Competitive Classes
Trainer
Beginning Slots: 6
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 1
Earn More Slots?: Yes
Description: This basic class allows use of any team of six Pokemon, with one Mega Pokemon. Choose this class if your occupation does not fit the criteria of the other classes.
Special Requirements: None. This flexible class allows for any number of occupations while granting access to Pokemon League events.
Population Limit: Unlimited
Gym Leader/Elite Four
Beginning Slots: 7
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 2
Earn More Slots?: Yes
Description: These trainers have the opportunity to operate their own gym. They must have six Pokemon that share a type on their team for any sanctioned Pokemon League challenge. They can use two different Mega Evolutions, but only in their chosen type specialty. If a Pokemon changes its typing when it Mega-Evolves, its typing must conform to the gym leader's specialization while Mega-Evolved in order to be used. If a Pokemon gains a gym leader's specialized type through Mega-Evolution, they MUST Mega-Evolve in any Pokemon League battle (gym challenge, tournament etc). In addition to their seven beginning slots, gym leaders are also given access to another, non-battling Pokemon in their chosen type specialty, for errand-running and general gym maintenance that do not count toward gym leader's slot count. (Example: Koga, a Poison-type gym leader, employs a Koffing to deliver messages and to keep his gym clean.)
Special Requirements: Gym Leaders are representatives of the Pokemon League, and must develop a Pokemon badge based on a mono-type specialty. Assistance may be offered in actual badge design. Gym leaders will be required to develop their gym locations, before they begin accepting challenges. Being considered for this class requires Moderator approval.
Population Limit: 8 Gym Leaders, 4 Elite Four.
Breeder
Beginning Slots: 10
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 3
Earn More Slots?: No
Description: Pokemon Breeders have the largest number of slots in the beginning, and may offer to store other Players' Pokemon in their empty slots. However, breeders may not earn more slots, and will need to release Pokemon after filling them in order to acquire new Pokemon. Breeders, however, have any supportive abilities many other trainers do not possess. This class is the only class not required to gain additional Pokemon in the RP. Instead, they may "raise" any Pokemon they desire, legendaries excluded. Breeders are also allowed to gift new Pokemon to other trainers once every two weeks in the form of eggs. Eggs will hatch two weeks after they are given to a trainer (IRL time). Trainers who receive eggs must have an open slot, unless a slot is given to them by the Breeder. Breeders also have the special ability called Full Revive, due to their knowledge of Pokemon raising and care, which allows them to revive all fainted Pokemon of a player. This ability can only be used once per thread.
Special Requirements: Breeders must have Breeding Facilities located somewhere in the Lialta region.
Population Limit: 4
Narrative Classes
Trainer
Beginning Slots: 6
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 1
Earn More Slots?: Yes
Description: This basic class allows use of any team of six Pokemon, with one Mega Pokemon. This class is not required to play competitively. This class is still allowed to challenge gym leaders. Gym leaders may refuse the challenges of narrative players. A trainer may list themselves as narrative Trainers, and will then only be required to fill one slot when applying for a character. Choose this class if your occupation does not fit the criteria of the other classes.
Special Requirements: None. This flexible class allows for any number of occupations while granting access to Pokemon League events.
Population Limit: Unlimited
Researcher
Beginning Slots: Unlimited
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 4
Earn More Slots?: No
Description: A Pokemon Researcher is dedicated to discovering new things about the world of Pokemon. They have access to the Pokemon Laboratory, and a complex system for Pokemon storage. They are encouraged to maintain two or three signature Pokemon, but Researchers have access to using any non-Legendary Pokemon. They are, however, restricted to 4 Mega-Evolution slots.
Special Requirements: In order to be a Researcher, strong knowledge of Pokemon lore or technicalities is encouraged. Your character will be required to have a research specialty (eg Mega-Evolution, Pokemon Eggs, Ancient Pokemon History/Lore, etc.). Researchers will be encouraged to work at the Pokemon Research Laboratory, though it is not necessarily a requirement. These trainers are required to maintain the same Pokemon team throughout a story thread, but may change their team however they wish from thread to thread. These trainers are also not eligible for any Pokemon League challenge, and will only battle during the story.
Population Limit: 4
Ranger
Beginning Slots: 1
Mega-Pokemon Slots: 1
Earn More Slots?: No
Description: This trainer has only one Pokemon dedicated to them in their team. They instead fill their ranks with the wild Pokemon of any area they are in, should they get into trouble. These trainers are well respected, and work to protect Pokemon. This class may still challenge gym leaders for their badges in a 1v1 battle. Gym leaders are not obligated to accept a Ranger's challenge. They also have the ability Ranger's Determination, which allows Rangers to revive their own Pokemon once during any thread after fainting.
Special Requirements: These trainers must only maintain their starter Pokemon. These trainers will be given a new team of five for battling at the start of every thread, upon request, from the moderators. BEING A RANGER REQUIRES HIGH AMOUNTS OF ACTIVITY, AS THEY WILL BE TRADED TEAMS OF FIVE FAIRLY FREQUENTLY.
Population Limit: 2
Hunter
Beginning Slots: 2
Mega Evolution Slots: 1
Earn More Slots?: Yes
Description: This Pokemon trainer is the only class allowed access to weaponry (all lethal weaponry must be moderator approved). This class may gain new slots after "selling" six Pokemon captured in the RP. "Buyers" for Pokemon Hunter captured Pokemon include the Pokemon Research Laboratory, Haven Corp, and the Black Market. When a Hunter has 6 slots, they may choose to change to a competitive Trainer (or attempt to become a Gym Leader, if their team is mono-type), or remain as a Hunter, and earn slots only through RP based missions. Hunters may fill their slots with "captured" Pokemon at any time, and are not required to gain Pokemon in the RP. This class may still challenge gym leaders for their badges in a 2v2 battle. Gym leaders are not obligated to accept a Hunter's challenge.
Special Requirements: Hunters are required to "sell" captured Pokemon in order to gain their first four extra slots. As a Hunter, you will be required to trade six unique in-game Pokemon at Level 50+ to administrators to gain a slot. When Hunters perform this, they must choose one of three markets: 1. Pokemon Research Laboratory, 2. Haven Corp, or 3. Black Market. WHERE YOU SELL YOUR CAPTURED POKEMON WILL HAVE EFFECTS ON YOUR CHARACTER IN THE RP. A new slot may only be gained once every two weeks (IRL time). Once a Hunter has gained six slots, they may lose their access to weaponry, in order to join the competitive ranks, or remain as a Hunter, and earn more slots through special in-RP missions.
Population Limit: 3
Please note that population limits on each class will increase as we gain more members.
