Appearance: Kurtis is naturally larger in build, standing a couple inches above six feet, with wide shoulders and toned muscles. He cares about being as fit as his Pokemon, and therefore regularly exercises with them. He has high cheekbones, an average nose, with a bulge from being broken before, and a strong, defined jaw. He keeps himself well groomed and his hair short but stylish. His eyes are gray, with a hint of blue. As for apparel, when in winter conditions, as Kurtis often is, Kurtis wears a dark blue sweater, a simple grey scarf, dark blue jeans, boots or dark gray loafers, and a gray wool coat (though he's usually too warm to actually wear the coat in most conditions). His key stone dangles from a simple, black cord around his neck. Outside of cold conditions, Kurtis is usually wearing shorts and a button down shirt. History: Kurtis grew up shunned by most children because he did not want to train a Dragon-type. As a result, he spent most of his time in the Ice Cave exploring, and he eventually discovered a Sneasel egg at the age of 7. Since then his partner has always been Sophie, and the two have adventured together ever since Kurtis was able to get his training license.
When he was out with his training license, Kurtis traveled to the region of Lialta for a few months. He learned the history there, and as a consequence has grown to become an expert in the topic. Kurtis also maintained a strong relationship with Professor Elm, running occasion errands and field work with his friend Guy Phillips.
At the age of 24, Kurtis decided to specialize in Ice-type Pokemon, as he had grown to have quite a collection of them, with his Sneasel, Abomasnow, and Piloswine, training under Price at the Mahogany Town gym in Johto. He spent a few years training there, before hearing about a new Pokemon League beginning in the Lialta region. Seeing it as an opportunity to finally live in the region he loved to study so much, Kurtis set off for Lialta. After a strong recommendation from Price, Kurtis was accepted as a gym leader in Lialta, specializing in the Ice-type. He has maintained his gym in Lialta for the last two years.
