Rachel has her long black hair pulled back into a high ponytail to keep it out of her face. Simple and effective. Furthermore, she wears sports bras, spandex, and/or shorts for training and sometimes travelling in hotter areas. She wears a jeans, long sleeved shirt, and hoodie if its not especially hot, and finally she packs with her a thick scarf and windbreaker jacket to wear over the hoodie when in colder weather. Rachel doesn't mind that she's often wearing what some would call "men's clothes." All this, with her tent, sleeping bag, and food, means that Rachel is packing a large hiking backpack in order to carry it all.
Personality:
Nobody tells Rachel what to do. She is strong willed, bull-headed, stubborn, and fierce. She is a helpful and kind friend, but is also very selective in who she chooses to be her friend. This applies to Pokemon as well. She cultivates a quality bond with her Cubone. The Pokemon she tends to choose are usually shy, or appear weak in some way.
History:
Rachel has spent her life until this point training and working. In Vermillion City, an older woman who served in the military (as did many veterans from the city, including Lt. Surge) worked as a gym teacher and took Rachel under her wing while Rachel attended school. The woman taught her how to use the bo staff, which Rachel carries with her as a tool to train with Cubone every morning. The training and schooling gave Rachel a lot of confidence in her body and mind, and while Rachel was not as studious in school as she was with the bo staff, when she decided it was time for her pokemon journey she was well prepared in body and knowledge. On her way the ship that would take her to Olivine City and then to Lialta, she came across an abandoned Nidoran♂. She offered to take the poor thing with her, and it willingly entered her Pokeball.

Rachel's Cubone is a crybaby. It was traumatized by the loss of its mother, and Rachel has spent years helping the Pokemon become stronger and more confident, comforting the Pokemon to the best of her abilities. Cubone and Rachel care deeply about one another for this reason, and while Cubone is a competent fighter, it only looks 'in its element' in a Pokemon match when it's protecting Rachel.
