The sun rises, shooting its beams of light into the first floor of the laboratory in Parsley Town. This was the final week Professor Lilith Laurel's position of "Lead Researcher" in Lialta. Soon she would pass the reigns to a young man. The light peeks through the blinds in her room on the upper floor of the lab, illuminating the room. Boxes were packed, ready to be moved to her home in the country side. The woman was not in her room this morning, instead in the lab analyzing the mosaic the upcoming Professor demanded brought there.
Every hour. It's close to time. Laurel watched the mosaic carefully. The images displayed now were vastly different than the ones she saw at the Temple of Time. The clock struck 6am and the images on the mosaic shifted to depict different scenes in history. Lilith quickly wrote it down in her notebook.
"6am, the images changed again. The previous set were of events that never happened. But are these? Last night when I observed the phenomena, I commented the same thing. But now that is wrong. Is this wrong, too? Or perhaps-"
WHAT?!? It's not supposed to change yet! It's... BLACK! The Professor's face showed confusion as the images shifted once more, this time to all black.
"6:02am, the images changed again. It would be more precise to say that they faded away, with only black tiles where the images were. What this means is beyond me. I need to meet with my successor about this."

A young man stands at the door, though not the young man Professor Laurel would be passing any reins to any time soon.
Thinking of his brot---sister, darn it, why do I keep doing that?---sister, he knocked on the door to the lab. Why didn't they answer the phone when he---SHE---called? he wondered. He always kept track of his sister's movements and dealings out of obligation to their parents, even if that meant tapping her phone lines. Just as secluded as she is, he's completely oblivious to anything that has been going on in the region.
He had to know what Lani had discovered, and her cryptic messages meant nothing. He couldn't listen in if they were to call her back, unless he was there in person. He aimed to be the impetus of this conversation.

Leif cracked his knuckles. The train station was deserted. Hardly anyone lived in Parsley Town. Hell, nobody lived in Pompash much anymore either.
This place was boring. Harold was taking too long. He should have come on one of the earlier trains.
Leif had always hated Parsley Town. His parents had made the mistake of sending him here one summer to stay with his dull aunt. The woman hardly said a word to him, sticking him with a Shroomish to mind after and keep him busy.
It must have been especially irritating that is was that same Shroomish who's Sleep Powder sparked Leif's departure from his aunt's care. Now Leif was back, with Stygian in tow. They were going to kidnap his beloved aunt, among other things. Giulia had been very precise in her orders. "Stuck up bitch," he complained out loud.
Leif yawned as he sat on the bench.
That's when he realized it. It had been too quiet. Where the hell had Stygian gone?!

"YES!" Stygian yelled at a bleary-eyed bartender, his signature Honchkrow sitting menacingly on a stool beside him, "Of course I know what time it is! Its-- Oh, shit, really?"
Stygian stared at his watch, confused. "Fuck it, doesn't matter. There are plenty of other bars in Terna that I can get booze in, asshole, but I came here! You should be honored! SERVE ME!"
The bartender took an involuntary step back. "Sir," he said, his arms up in front of him protectively, "This is Parsley Town."
Stygian paused with his finger in the air and more curses on the tip of his tongue. With a wary glance at the bartender, the Elite Four member and his Honchkrow made their way outside. Stygian looked around, confused and angry, finally noticing Leif through a train station window. He stormed across the street and slammed the doors open. His eyes widened, then slowly narrowed.
"Leif," he whispered, glancing around nervously, "When did we get here?"

"A Sign of Things to Come"
With a mighty yawn, Professor Guy entered the Pokemon Lab in Parsley Town. He worked his way from the visitor area to the research area through the door in the back of the room. "Laurel? You're up awfully early today." Guy rubbed his eyes, stumbling onto the couch near the door. "Trying to squeeze out the last bit of your time here?"
"Yes, actually. I have-" Laurel turned around to see her replacement laying face-down on the couch, "Get up! Something has happened and I think you need to see it!"
Grumbling, Guy pulled himself up and walked over toward Laurel, the walk becoming a run once he saw the mosaic. "What did you do? Spill ink all over it? Why did you try and grab the ink with your left hand?"
"Normally I wouldn't mind your jokes about my hand, but this is serious. The mosaic's images have been shifting since you left the temple. They finally stopped at about six this morning, replaced by this blackness."
"The mosaic's images were... shifting? Showing what?"
Laurel opened some photos on the computer nearby, "Look. They show-" Laurel's face turned to stone at what she was seeing. "The pictures! They show blackness, too! They weren't like this! They showed images of historical events that were off slightly."
Guy chuckled, "It's not like you to joke with me. You really are making the most of your last week, eh?" From the lower shelf of the counter they were at, Guy pulled out a large book. He flipped to the page that showed the mosaic from about fifty years prior. "Oh. Well it's either my sleep deprivation, shock at this, or you are taking the joke remarkably far, but it appears the images in this book are also black." With a considerably loud thud, the book slipped out of Guy's fingers and fell on the counter. "I am in no shape to look into this now. A nap first."
"Don't sleep too long. I believe we are expecting a couple guests today. A young woman and a young man. In the meantime, I am going to continue looking into this."
Guy walked back over and collapsed on the couch, this time falling asleep. A knock on the door of the lab followed shortly after. Laurel walked out of the room to answer it, "Company already? Guess he isn't going to sleep long."

Professor Laurel opened the door, the sun glaring right in her eyes. "Hello? Are you Mr. Vastarr?"

The young woman lowered herself down from floating, admittedly not the most polite thing to do when the sun would be right behind you. She giggled lightly at the man's question. "Not quite. Delphine Asceta. It is good to see you, Professor Laurel." She hovered just an inch or two above the ground now, still towering over the older woman. Minerva, her lifelong partner and Gardevoir, was not far away, looking around at the house and its surroundings. This place feels inviting Phi... but I feel like we should get inside soon... Minerva thought at Phi.
Phi nodded to her friend and turned back to Laurel, awaiting a response.

Slightly disgruntled at being largely ignored at the door by a young woman, introducing herself even though she had just arrived, the unexpected guest interrupted any response this "Delphine" might be awaiting.
Putting on a thick Hoenn accent (to match his over-sized lab coat and grayed out wig, as all were unbelievable) and slightly shoving the poor girl out of the way, he began, "And I'm Professor Stella from Professor Cozmo's main lab. I hear there's been a recent discovery? Something about a young independent researcher? Yes, yes. I was hoping you'd have a moment, but I just overheard that you're expecting not just one," he paused, thinking, rather rude, "plucky youngster, but two. I'm far too old to be this Mr. Vastarr, and of that I'm very sorry."
By now, he had wound his way into the visitor area. Who was the rude one again?

"Professor Stella? You were not expected." Laurel's expression quickly became one of annoyance, "And you, Delphine, you said? Good to meet you, too. Please come in. And do not be offended by our... unexpected guest. Be right back, you two." Laurel walked into the research area, returning a few moments later with a Gardevoir in a labcoat. "This is Lady, Professor Phillip's Gardevoir. She helps around the lab and will be assisting today."
Lady bows, welcoming the guests while Laurel continues speaking, "Do forgive my appearance, this is my last week here and I feel like dressing casually. Now down to business. Delphine, I was told you were coming to offer aid for an experiment I'm working on. Unfortunately, things have changed due to a 'discovery'. One that Stella should not know about." Laurel turns to the third Professor, "How did you learn and get here so quickly? This happened only half-an-hour ago." Her eyes narrowed, suspecting something was up.

"Oh, um, well, you see, Lani works closely with Professor Cozmo back in Hoenn, just like me, of course, so naturally, he... cough...she, excuse me, called Cozmo right away. The Professor contacted me, since I was in the area, and I managed to get back here on my Pidgeot. Trusty, trust Pidgeot! We should probably call hi eeeeeerrrrr...cough...she'd be delighted to see both of us together as soon as possible! Come along now!" Outside, Au Contraire dripped with paint, looking nothing at all like a Pidgeot. He sighed. Deneb's Kalos accent had begun to seep through, one not heard often in the Lialta region, let alone lil ol' Parsley Town. Confident that his slip-ups were not enough to blow his cover, he pushed the Professor toward the phone and began dialing the number. The phone call may be carried out here so as not to distract from concurrent events.

Razz Berry. This was Mister Stricker's favorite flavor. He smiled as he enjoyed the flavor.
Mister Stricker paused for a moment as his PokeGear vibrated in his pocket. He plunged his hand into his coat, past the empty candy wrappers, and retrieved the device.
Henry, something is up at the lab.
Mister Stricker glanced up at his Crobat. There he is. Xatu took hold, and suddenly Mister Stricker stood outside of the Pokemon Lab in Parsley Town. Crobat fluttered above, quickly finding a perch.
Adjusting the Razz Berry sucker in his mouth, Mister Stricker crept forward, glancing in through the window. Three eccentric people inside were having a field day. The situation looked hilarious, but hardly serious.
Mister Stricker crunched the remaining bits of the hard candy, dropping his sucker stick on the ground. He looked up at Crobat, hanging from the corner of the building. There he is.
Mister Stricker's Xatu's wings ruffled as he landed next to the man in the brown coat. A moment later, they were gone.

Guy burst into the lab, looking both irritated and tired. "I have only been asleep five minutes before getting woke up, and it's not like I can go upstairs because there are boxes everywhere. Also, why is there is squid covered in paint in the lab?" He looks at Phi and then Stella, "Why is your hair so green? Is this a dream? Who is that guy in the wig? This is a dream."

"I'm bald."
Deneb is mortified. His sister is on her way here. Her life's work has just been destroyed before his eyes. His mission from his parents is a failure. His Malamar was fooling no one. He hoped his wig was, just long enough to excuse himself before things got worse.
"I must be going! Professor Custard, euh, Cozmo needs me! His pupil! She!" He sprinted toward the front door, tripping over his Malamar. "I will get out of here!"

Guy rubbed his head, "Dude, I'm bald too. Don't worry about it."
The supposed Professor Stella started to flip out, "I will get out of here!"
"No. You will stay." Laurel motions to Lady, "Restrain him with Psychic." The Gardevoir did just that, stopping him steps from the door.
"You know, Lilith, you missed your chance to make a pun based on what the girl on the monitor said." Guy laughed slightly, before shouting "Au contraire!" at Deneb. "A little late, I know, but I couldn't have lived with myself if it didn't get said."

"Haw. Haw. Haw," Deneb muttered through Psychic. "Don't. Make. Malamar..."
Au Contraire was already out the door, getting the heck outta dodge. Looking devilishly through the window, he added to the Psychic with Psycho Cut, removing the wig and lab coat, revealing a full head of dark hair. He began laughing hysterically.
"I...give...up...," he said, resigning to his fate.
