Appearance: Derek is fairly average in height and build, not extreme in any way, but lightly muscled, from traveling around frequently. Overall, he’s rather slim and wiry, but deceitfully durable.
He has a soft face, with not very defined features. He had brown eyes, and blond hair that fell down, almost to his eyes. He often has a small amount of stubble, but keeps it under control. He’s often unkempt, but not unclean.
He likes to wear jeans and a simple T-shirt, but often wears a jacket with it.
Personality: Derek is a kind-hearted trainer, who tries to make friends with everyone. He is sometimes described as naive, or gullible, but he likes to say that he’s just quick to trust. He tries to follow the high road, morally, but struggles with grey areas and is easily swayed in his opinions.
He enjoys adventure, and time with friends, and good meals, despite the fact that he’s not that good of a cook. With his Pokemon as his first priority, he always does his best to make people happy, and has a bit of a magnetic personality.
History: Growing up in Pacifidlog, it was a certainty that he would learn to love the water, and just that happened. He also grew up with many water pokemon, and grew up with both a slowpoke and a poliwag. He loved going out swimming with the two of them, and exploring the ocean around them, though he was technically not allowed very far out, he often bent (or broke) those rules.
His Poliwag, who he had named Paul, did eventually evolve to a Poliwhirl, and from there, to a Politoed (much to Derek’s delight). He became interested in battling other trainers, to strengthen his own pokemon, and accelerate their natural growth. One day, when they were out training in the water, his slowpoke was bit by a shellder, but not on the tail. His parents were surprised when Derek’s dopey pokemon returned as a Slowking. He became one of Derek’s best friends, and something of a tutor. Slowking showed a distaste for battling, and Derek understood and never asked him too since then.
When Derek became an adult, he wanted to travel around, visit the other regions, Pacifidlodge was simply too small of a town to fit his adventurous desires. With Slowking and Politoed, he set off on his adventure. When he visited the Unova region, he apprenticed in pokemon breeding. He loved taking care of pokemon, and helping raise other trainer’s pokemon. He encountered many of his current partners in the wild, or raised them himself from the eggs that trainer’s didn’t want.
After finishing his training, he decided that he wanted to challenge his team, to see how well he did as a breeder and a trainer. He’s made it to the Lialta region to do just that, and has set up a breeding facility in the small town of Parsley Town.
