Well this was turning into a giant shit show. Alexander had been distracted when the Professor said something stupid, and now the guy with the Xatu was gone just after talking with X and the other trainer.
He eyed the magma stone, and the fact that the Professor wasn't touching it. Alexander slowly slipped out of Harold's field of vision. Whatever they were actually doing here, Alexander wanted to be a part of it as little as possible.

Roxy was unsure of what to do. That stone near the Professor was being avoided, yet Stricker asked her to not let Harold catch Heatran. Her PDA vibrated as Stiletto appeared on-screen holding a link to the information on Heatran. She skimmed the information coming to a single conclusion: Disturbing the Magma Stone would enrage Heatran. She was conflicted about what to do. Taking the stone would summon Heatran for Harold, but leaving it might give him some kind of edge over the Pokemon.
With a swift movement she moved toward the stone, surely catching the attention of Harold and his minion.

Soon after they descended into the volcano X had stripped himself out of his jacket to the t-shirt below and was now carrying it. The heat in here was thick and hot. He felt like he was breathing through a blanket.
X considered Stricker's warning. It seemed his day would end the same way it had begun, with orders to defeat Harold Commons. Now he had less support and Harold more. But X noticed Alexander stepping tentatively away from his taskmaster. Perhaps if Alexander felt no association he would stay out of this and leave it to X and Roxy to deal with the elite four. X could only hope to be so fortunate. Roxy suddenly made a move for the stone. X backed her and awaited Harold's response staying mindful of Midas, whom he knew should never be disregarded.

Harold roared. "No! That's mine!"
He dove after Roxy, but she had far too much of a lead. She grabbed the stone, and the room began to shake.
"What the hell?!" Harold was fuming. "Professor! What's going on here?!"
The room shook more, and the temperature seemed to be rising.
Pokemon were now shuffling into the room, Torkoal and Nosepass and Larvesta and Koffing. They paraded out the lava tubes.
"Midas, get me that orb!"

"What's happening? Well, she just touched the egg. I mean Stone. Why did I say egg?" The Professor chuckled nervously. "See, that is the Magma Stone. Disturbing it will enrage Heatran, who now intends on bringing this whole place down on us."
Harold commanded Midas to get the Magma Stone from Roxy, not that it would help him. "Mr. Commons, even if you had the stone you couldn't change this. Your only option is to capture Heatran, defeat Heatran, or flee."

Did he just say egg? In a shocking turn of events, things were going even more poorly than Alexander had initially anticipated. Alexander hadn't planned on dying today, but being inside a volcano with a potentially angry Heatran was putting a real damper on that plan.
Alexander's shadow twitched. Gengar wasn't particularly pleased about this either. At least they were in this together. The lack of weight where his rifle would normally be unnerved him. He usually used it in times like these. On either the Pokemon, or the Professor. Both, probably.
"I'm more worried about our supposed Heatran problem, Harold. We deal with that, and I doubt the Professor will be feeling frisky enough to keep the orb from us. And hey, just for future reference, I like to be informed ahead of time if we're going after a legendary."

A moment of grim realization washed over Ms. Salvador. This did not change anything for the better, only worse. "...You there, loud mouth." she struck a confident pose, pointing at Harold. "I will prevent you and your henchman from capturing Heatran. No, I will ensure you will not escape this, your fiery tomb."

Guy grabs her arm, turning her around. He places both hands on her shoulders. "You need to get out of here before you can't." A strong earthquake shakes the room, cracking the ceiling. "Listen to me, Roxy, we don't have time to debate this." The Professor pushes her out of the room causing her to stumble and fall. "I may not have Pokemon, Harold, but you're mine!" a mighty proclamation from the Professor echoes down the tunnel.

Midas' earlier prediction had nearly come true. "I'm keeping my five dollars since the Kangaskhan didn't do it." X amused himself aloud while he glanced around the cavern. He couldn't see the Heatran anywhere. He didn't feel much like dealing with that situation anyway, if he could help it.
"Come on! We should get out of here!" X declared as he started to run after Roxy and the professor.

Heatran? Harold was fuming. They knew it was a Heatran?!
Harold was jarred by the earthquake and the professor.
"Enough!" he shouted in the confusion.
He pulled a Luxury Ball from his belt, releasing Kangaskhan.
"We're finding Heatran, now!"
As he moved forward, Kangaskhan chased after the Professor
The mountain shook again.
"Now, I'm going to capture that Heatran, Magma Stone or not. Unless you all want to be responsible Parsley Town and Pompash burning, you'll come with me!"
The angry Elite Four member stormed after Roxy and the Professor.

Stop Pushing
Guy and Roxy fled down the tunnel and away from Harold who pursued. The earth shook causing the tunnel ahead of them to collapse, forcing an alternate path. The two, having no choice, took it. At the end of this path was a room with a magma pool and in it, Heatran. Roxy held out the Magma Stone "Are you Heatran? This is yours. We have it bec-"
Harold, approaching from behind, ripped the Stone out of her hands and pushes her aside. "Finally, a battle worthy of my talents!" the man grasped the Magma Stone, reaching for the Luxury Ball on his belt, and bowed his head. "Unlike Giulia, I do not disdain true battle!" he laughed, as if someone cared to listen to his speech. "No, I fear I only tire of the challenge of the pathetic. They harm their Pokemon needlessly. Can't they see they must truly..."
He paused, only for a moment. "Get good. Their folly is in trying. But those few with talent, they must take a stand. Heatran! I will capture you!"
"Okay but why do I keep getting shoved?" Roxy teased while drawing her Pokeball. "I doubt you can defeat me AND capture that Heatran at the same time." She hoped X ran and wouldn't show.
Guy turned to Heatran who was looking pissed, "Let us aid you and you will get your Stone back." The Pokemon crawled out of the lava past him, snarling. "Well, Roxy," Guy hollered over the noise of the volcano, "This thing isn't out friend, but it also doesn't seem to care about us." The Professor looked at his friend and smiled, though she didn't notice. She seems to be enjoying the sudden danger. I'm glad, she seemed so down.

Alexander reluctantly chased after Harold and the others, tempted as he was to just escape and leave them all to die. Initially he hadn't wanted anything to do with Heatran, but the thrill of the hunt was flooding into his veins as he ran. They all turned a corner, and there stood Heatran.
Harold made some long, drawn out speech that Alexander didn't listen to. The Professor also said some things Alexander didn't care about, up until he got the vibe they weren't going to try to capture it. Alexander groaned and walked up to stand next to Harold, staring at the Heatran and ignoring everyone else. Gengar materialized in front of him protectively.
"Hey X," Alexander said, not bothering to check if the kid was actually in the room, "Come give us a hand. You know this is too good an opportunity to pass up. One of us might walk away with a legendary, assuming we walk away at all!"

X strode along the stone tunnels and considered what Harold had shouted. Whole towns were at stake if they didn't stop the legendary? He had hoped he would be able to simply coerce the group out of the tunnels to avoid their own destruction, but had not considered the larger repercussions of the volcano's eruption. As they slowed to a stop in the chamber they had been routed to, X's gaze settled on the focus of all this trouble. Heatran. For a moment he watched in awe of the creature's existence. That it influenced the activity of something as powerful as a volcano was an impressive thing to consider.
X must have stopped paying attention to his surroundings in lieu of the legendary as Harold surprised them all by ripping the magma stone from Roxy's hands. The elite four then started preaching at the Heatran, who's surly demeanor seemed unchanged. Harold was an intimidating man, but sounded like a cartoon villain as he pronounced his notions to the creature. Roxy then challenged Harold. It was a bold move, but she was right. He would probably have a much harder time of fightning her and Heatran at the same time.
"Hey X", Alexander pulled his attention away from the others. "Come give us a hand. You know this is too good an opportunity to pass up. One of us might walk away with a legendary, assuming we walk away at all!"
If they walked away at all... X thought again of Harold's warning. The first thing they needed to do was defeat Heatran, both for their own sake and that of the surrounding towns. X also had to consider Stricker's instructions and Alexander was clearly going to try to take Heatran down regardless of what X did. He swallowed a breath of hot air.
"Yeah, let's do it." said X, exhaling cooly while readying a pokeball with which to fight the legend. He knew he was fighting against time, and hoped that he would be able to defeat Heatran fast enough to help Roxy against Harold.
"This is going to be a mess..." he thought.

"You traitor!" Harold was fuming, his forehead sweating either from the heat of the mountain, or from his frustration. Stricker can't be trusted, he thought, glaring at Roxy.
"Fine!" he said, tossing a ball in her direction.
"Cinccino, show this woman how powerful we are."
Harold is challenging Roxy to Singles Battle, 6v6!
Meanwhile, Heatran roared, beginning to take more notice of the troublesome trainers in the room. It roared and smashed the ground with its feet.
The floor turned orange and began to melt, more area turning to magma, as the trainers scrambled to find a safe places to stand. The Heatran ignored Harold and Roxy, turning its attention on X and Alexander.
Heatran bellowed again, and shot a Fire Blast at the two trainers. It was very clearly upset, and the worsening conditions of the room baked the trainers.
Heatran is challenging Alexander Midas and X. Which trainer will battle this legendary Pokemon?! [Unrestricted Battle, using real levels]

Roxy pulled out three Pokeballs and stared at them for a moment. With grim resolve she tucked two of them away and pointed at Harold. "I can't betray you if I was never on your side."
